In reply: I thank Ling and colleagues for their comments. As Australia's leading general medical journal, the MJA appreciates reader feedback as we continue our journey to become an even higher impact journal in Australia and globally. All submissions to the Journal are subjected to a very rigorous review process to try and ensure that any article published in the MJA is of high quality and reflects its authors’ expertise and experience. However, we recognise that it can be helpful for readers to know an author's area of expertise to help them judge for themselves the content of an article. We are therefore planning to reinstate limited, relevant post‐nominals for our authors later in 2019. Please bear with us, however, as this will involve some redesigning of the Journal to accommodate them in print.
