Call for Expressions of Interest

The Medical Journal of Australia is Australia’s premier general medical journal. It is the journal of the Australian Medical Association, which confers editorial independence. Dr Martin Van Der Weyden has been the Editor of the MJA since 1995. As Dr Van Der Weyden has announced his intention to retire we are seeking expressions of interest in this outstanding, full-time Sydney-based opportunity.

Healthcare Editor/Journalist

AMPCo, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Australian Medical Association and publisher of the Medical Journal of Australia, is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified Contract Editor/Journalist to work 3 to 4 days per week in its Sydney CBD-based office (starting in Feb 2010).

The Editor will be responsible for preparing a weekly online newsletter, including sourcing and writing content, suitable for the General Practitioner and non-specialist market.

Familiarity with medical and healthcare or scientific publishing is highly desirable. At least 3 years' health-related writing and editing experience is preferred.
