Dual energy x-ray absorptiometry scan performed on a bone mineral densitometer (Lunar Expert, Madison, Wis) of the lumbar spine in a young woman, age 37, with unsuspected lumbar spine osteopenia (T = -1.8). The scan has been displayed using a colour table to highlight the differences in bone mineral density. Regional lumbar spine BMD is calculated in g/cm².
